Just Two Ingredients!

  • I usually use long grain rice, but I have found this works for brown rice or short grain rice.
  • Water is easy, but you could also substitute vegetable, chicken, or beef broth.

Secrets to Spot On Rice

  • Soak the rice before cooking to help the grains cook evenly.
  • Rinse rice well to remove excess starch and prevent stickiness.
  • Keep the ratio right. Equal parts rice and water is the key.
  • The natural release is necessary, and also keeps the rice warm until you are ready to serve.

Savor It, Save It, Serve It Again

  • Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
  • Cool rice completely before freezing. Store in portions and in sealed container or zippered bag for up to 2 months.
  • Add a splash of water and reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop.

Perfect Instant Pot Rice

Cook 3 minutes
Bring to Pressure and Natural Release 20 minutes

It's easy to learn how to cook rice in an Instant Pot with just 2 ingredients and this simple to follow method.

Equipment

  • Instant Pot
  • mesh strainer
  • bowl

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup long grain rice
  • 1 cup water

Instructions
 

  • In a wire strainer, add 1 cup long grain rice and place in a medium bowl. Add enough water to cover the rice. Soak for 20 minutes.
  • Lift strainer out of water, and rinse under running water.
  • In an Instant Pot stainless bowl, place rinsed rice. Add 1 cup water and shake the pot back and forth to ensure rice is covered with water.
  • Place lid on the Instant Pot, and lock.
  • Set to high pressure for 3 minutes. Press start.
  • Once cook time is done allow to rest, or natural release, for 10 minutes.
  • At this point, press cancel button. Keep the lid on until ready to serve. If there is still pressure, you will need to release the steam before unlocking the lid.
