Dipped Strawberries Made Easy!

  1. Rinse strawberries, then pat dry with a towel or paper towel.
  2. Lay the strawberries out and allow to air dry for about 15-20 minutes. The berry may sweat if it is cold when dipped into the warm chocolate, so you want to avoid this by using berries that are room temperature.
  3. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  4. Melt your chocolate. There are 3 ways to easily and effectively melt chocolate.
    • Stovetop – use a double boiler or if you do not have one, you can create a make-shift one by placing a glass or stainless steel bowl over a saucepan of boiling water. Add chocolate and oil to the bowl and stir till smooth.
    • Microwave – in a microwave safe bowl, melt chocolate and oil on half power for 30 second intervals, stirring in between each until smooth.
    • Oven – set chocolate and oil in a heat proof bowl and place in a 250˚F oven for 15 minutes, stir and check every 5 minutes after until completely smooth.
  5. Hold the strawberry by the stem or leaves and dip it into the chocolate bath to your desired depth. Set each dipped strawberry on the parchment paper.
  6. If the chocolate becomes difficult to dip or hardens, go back to the melting step once again until the consistency is right for dipping.
  7. Once complete, refrigerate the berries for about 30 minutes.

Do Strawberries Dipped In Chocolate Need To Be Refrigerated?

Once the chocolate has hardened onto the berries, you should remove from the refrigerator. These chocolaty treats are best served at room temperature. Keep in a cool place, not cold.

If for some reason you have leftover dipped strawberries, you can leave them at room temperature overnight. You could place them in an airtight zippered bag or container in the freezer for long term storage. Add frozen strawberries to a smoothie or chop and serve as an ice cream topping along with chocolate sauce and whipped cream!

4 Easy Tips For The Best Chocolate Dipped Strawberries!

  • Strawberries MUST be dry – the chocolate will not stick to your berry if it is moist.
  • Stems – be sure to choose strawberries with enough leaves to hold on to while dipping.
  • Add oil – adding a touch of oil will help your chocolate dip easier and gives it a glossy appearance.
  • Food coloring – add a touch of black food coloring to your melted chocolate to give it a deeper, darker color. If you are using dark chocolate, it will already have a wonderfully rich color so you may not need it. I always use my Wilton food coloring drops!

Ways To Dress Up Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

You could drizzle them with white chocolate, sprinkle them with chopped nuts or even colored sugar. Use your imagination! My preference is to serve these dipped strawberries plain and simple. I love the stark contrast between the red and dark brown with just a peek of green from the top. Serve them on a white bowl, plate or platter for extra impact!

I hope you have been inspired by this super simple Chocolate Dipped Strawberries Recipe and have success making it!
