Tips for the best homemade brownies!

  • Use a lined baking pan and grease it lightly with baking spray. Parchment paper or foil work well. Using a lined pan allows you to remove the entire brownie and cut it evenly and easily!
  • Do no over bake your brownies! Check your brownie 5 minutes before given time and check every 3 minute after that. A toothpick inserted should NOT come out clean – it should have some bits on it and be moist! Not goopy, but moist.
  • After baking, cover with tin foil immediately to retain the moisture inside.
  • Cool completely before frosting.

This Homemade Brownie recipe as shown does not have nuts or chocolate chips, but both are delicious additions to this recipe! I love adding pecans, but walnuts are good as well. If you have left over chocolate from Christmas or Easter, chop it up and add it in! What a great way to use up left over chocolate from the holidays!

How to serve Homemade Brownies

  • Serve it naked!  …I mean the brownie of course! 🙂 This homemade brownie recipe is so good, it doesn’t need to get all dressed up to be excellent!
  • If you love frosting, you will want to try this easy chocolate frosting. It is so simple and delicious! Using that hint of coffee in the frosting really brings out the rich chocolate flavor! That is a tip I got from my dear piano teacher years ago – rest her soul!
  • Let’s not forget a classic homemade chocolate sauce! I use it to top so many of my desserts! Just place a small scoop of ice cream on top of a brownie square, then smother it all with luscious chocolate sauce. So decadent!
