Easy Peanut Butter Dessert

Easy Peanut Butter Dessert is so light and creamy! It really is one of the easiest no bake desserts you will make!

Smooth peanut butter and cream cheese are the main ingredients in this dessert, while prepared Cool Whip lends a hand to make it super light and creamy.

Serve this dessert from it’s frozen state or allow it to thaw slightly. Frozen, it reminds me of peanut butter ice cream! Either way, it’s so delicious!

Is it safe to eat raw eggs?

Yes, this dessert recipe contains raw eggs and because of this, some people may shy away from this no bake treat. The issue is that eggs may contain Salmonella, a bacteria that can be harmful. However with improvements in processing and inspection standards, the risk is very low.

In fact, according to Healthline, the US Department of Agriculture says it is safe to consume raw eggs if they have been pasteurized. So if you prefer, purchase pasteurized egg products for this peanut butter dessert recipe.

Another substitute for the eggs would be to add 1/2 cup mayonnaise. I have added it to other similar recipes with great results.

What other toppings can I use for this no bake dessert?

  • I love to top this peanut butter dessert with a drizzle of chocolate. My Homemade Chocolate Sauce is perfect for this!
  • Crushed peanuts are an obvious choice!
  • A dollop of cool whip is perfectly delicious on top!
  • Extra crushed peanut butter cookies are a crisp and delicious option as well!
  • Of course you could top it with all of the above!

If you do not want to prepare this in individual dessert dishes, you can always make it in an 8×8 inch pan. Simply cover the bottom with the crushed cookies, followed by the peanut butter layer and cover with your choice of toppings. Freeze as directed then cut into squares. I would suggest lining the pan with parchment paper and allow to sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes before serving. This will make cutting into squares so much easier!
