Chocolate Peanut Butter Icing

What Do I Need To Make It?

  • Hand or stand mixer, medium mixing bowl, measuring spoons and cups, and a rubber scraper.
  • Creamy peanut butter – the star of the show!
  • Butter, unsalted and at room temperature.
  • Powdered sugar (or icing sugar or confectioners sugar – depending on where you live and what it’s called)
  • Cocoa
  • Chocolate Chips, melted and cooled
  • Vanilla
  • A bit of milk or cream, whichever you prefer!

How To Make Chocolate Peanut Butter Frosting!

  1. Melt chocolate chips in microwave. Cool.
  2. Blend peanut butter, butter and cocoa together until super smooth.
  3. Add vanilla and melted chocolate. Mix together.
  4. Slowly add powdered sugar to the mixture. Add milk (and more if needed)
  5. Turn mixer to high and whip till light fluffy and gorgeous!

Where To Use This Frosting

This frosting is beautiful on both cakes and cupcakes. It makes a luscious filling for layered cakes and hollow out a cupcake and pipe it inside for a delicious surprise. The possibilities are endless with this versatile frosting!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Frosting

This chocolate peanut butter icing is light and creamy, perfect for a quick and yet decorative way to top all your cakes, cupcakes or brownies!

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup peanut butter
  • ½ cup butter unsalted
  • ¼ cup cocoa
  • ½ cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ Tablespoon milk or cream, more if needed
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla

Instructions
 

  • Melt the chocolate chips in microwave at 20 second intervals, stirring in until just melted. Cool.
  • Using a hand blender, cream butter, peanut butter and cocoa together. Add cooled and melted chocolate and mix.
  • Add powdered sugar ⅓ cup at a time, until desired consistency. Add milk (and use a bit more if needed).

Notes

This recipe will make enough frosting for an 8x8 inch pan, or 12 cupcakes. Double the recipe for a 9x13 cake.
