Equipment

stand mixer
Trifle bowl or a 9x13 baking pan, or individual dessert dishes
food processor

Ingredients

  • 2 pkgs instant chocolate pudding mix large 170 g size
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups half and half cream
  • 1 pkg oreo cookies 19 oz pkg / or 500g pkg
  • ¾ cup peanut butter divided
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup icing sugar
  • 8 oz cool whip or 1L tub, divided.
  • colorful candies of choice

Instructions

  • Crush oreos in a mixer. Add ¼ cup peanut butter and blend till crumbled.
  • Combine milk, cream and pudding mixes. Blend on low for 2 minutes. Refrigerate.
  • Cream together cream cheese and ½ cup peanut butter until smooth. Add vanilla and icing sugar, beat till very smooth.
  • Add set pudding, and beat on low speed until incorporated. Fold in ½ tub cool whip.
  • Layer pudding mixture, then cookie crumbs. Repeat, leaving top with cookie crumbs.
  • Sprinkle candy coated chocolate on the top, or other candy such as gummy worms, etc. Top each serving with more cool whip if desired.

Notes

  • Use a food processor to crush the Oreo cookies if you have one. If you do not have a food processor, place cookies in a zippered bag and crush with a rolling pin.
  • Crush Oreos ahead of time. And while the food processor is out, crush up a bunch and freeze for future recipes!
  • Microwave cream cheese 20 seconds to soften slightly and make it easier to blend.
  • Use whole milk, or use the combination of 1% milk and cream for a thicker and creamier dessert.
  • I used my new 8" trifle bowl from Stokes and it was perfect for this recipe. A larger bowl will also work, a 9x13" pan, or even scoop into individual dessert dishes for tasty dirt cake cups.
