Ingredients

  • cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • cup salted butter
  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla
  • ½ teaspoon vinegar or lemon juice

Instructions

  • Over low heat, melt butter, brown sugar and cream.
  • Bring to a rolling boil and keep there for 1 minute.
  • Remove from heat. Add vanilla and vinegar.
  • Cool, stirring occasionally. Pour into container.

Notes

  • Begin the 1 minute cook time after the sauce has come to a full rolling boil.
  • Allow sauce cool in the sauce pan and stir it occasionally.
  • If crystals begin to form on the sides of the pan, heat slowly and add a touch more vinegar.
