An Easy 3 Ingredient Appetizer!
Tomato: I use grape tomatoes, but cherry tomatoes will work fine as well.
Fresh Mozza Balls: These tasty little morsels are perfect to keep on hand in your fridge for so many uses. And they can be purchased in different sizes. I used mini mozza balls, but if you purchase the small ones and find they are too big, simply cut them in half. A large mozza ball could also be cut into pieces and used in place of the mini balls.
Basil: There just is no substitute for fresh basil! Fresh parsley would work in a pinch for color, but really won’t do much for flavor.
Simple Instructions
- Create a balsamic reduction
- Bring balsamic to a boil, reduce heat.
- Cook for about 10 minutes, until slightly thick.
- Cool and set aside.
- Cut globe tomatoes in half.
- Wash and trim basil leaves.
- Assemble tomato, basil and mozza balls on toothpicks
- Serve.
Tips!
- Look for decorative toothpicks or skewers at the store and be sure to keep a good supply on hand for entertaining.
- Use as much, or as little, basil to your liking. Roll or fold large basil leaves for more flavor, and still stay within the size of the appetizer.
- Layer ingredients onto the skewers however you like! Use uncut globe tomatoes and simply skewer with only one basil leaf and one mozza ball. Use what you have on hand or prefer.
- Balsamic reduction can be purchased at the grocery store to make this appie even easier!
- Tomato mozza caprese skewers make a delightful, and even festive, addition to a charcuterie board too!
I hope you love this Tomato Mozzarella Basil Skewers appetizer recipe as much as I do. It’s perfect any time of year and for any occasion.
