Ingredients to make Skor Cake Recipe, including cake mix, eggs, mayonnaise, cocoa, coffee, sweetened condensed milk, Cool Whip, chocolate syrup and caramel syrup, toffee bits and dark chocolate chunks

Simple Ingredients

CAKE MIX: Any chocolate cake mix works, but a Devil’s Food chocolate cake mix is a favorite for this recipe. And doctored with extra mayonnaise makes this cake so moist, while the cocoa and coffee brings out more delicious chocolate flavor!

SAUCE: Sweetened condensed milk mixed with caramel sauce creates the deliciously sweet sauce to pour over the chocolate cake!

TOPPINGS: Cool Whip is an amazing topping and is so easy to use, but real whipped cream could also be used. Either way, so yummy! Toffee bits, dark chocolate chunks, more caramel sauce and chocolate sauce are used to crown this amazing dessert! Semi-sweet chocolate chips can also be used, but I love the dark chocolate paired with all that sweet caramel!

Variations

Use any brand boxed chocolate cake mix, and try different types such as a german chocolate or chocolate fudge. Even this homemade zucchini chocolate cake would work! Why not try some different cake mix flavors with this recipe? A yellow, white or marble cake mix would all make tasty variations.

Substitute real whipped cream for the Cool Whip! Using a stand mixer or hand mixer, whip 2 cups whipping cream, 2 tablespoons icing sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla together until stiff peaks form. Delicious!

Store bought caramel and chocolate sauces are super convenient, but homemade are easy to make and super delish! Try these DIY recipes for chocolate and caramel sauces and see just how easy they are!

Let your imagination run wild for toppings! No toffee bits? Use an actual Skor Bar and crush it up! Or crush up other types of chocolate bars. Why not try chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans, shredded coconut and shaved chocolate. For different flavor variations try peanut butter, butterscotch or white chocolate chips.

Skor Cake Tips

  • Bake cake ahead of time and freeze. Pop it out, thaw and top as per recipe.
  • Line a baking pan with foil for easy clean up.
  • Allow cake to cool completely before topping with Cool Whip and goodies!
  • Once cake is completely prepped, refrigerate for several hours, or even better, overnight. The texture and flavor actually improves as this dessert sits, so it’s one of the best to prep ahead when entertaining or for holiday dinners!
  • If refrigerating overnight, there is no need to cover with plastic wrap. But once it is cut, cover with foil or plastic wrap.
